Second Chances and High-Risk Heats

In the U16 girls’ event, at The Peak, the main draw is back in action.

France and Portugal still have their full squads in this draw, but watch out for the threat posed by Van der Huls (NDL), Rico (SPN), Nikilujuw (SWD), Skinner (ENG) and Hawke (WAL).

Ireland will be able to count on Isabella O’Reilly to fly the flag high for the host nation.

Stella LIindemann - Germany

In the U18s, almost the entire U16 line-up is back, plus the two Italians (Cuppone and Giogi) and the two English players (Smith and Ingram), who always end up in the same heat.

Julieta Rodriguez Vilamil (SPN), for her part, will have to juggle between the two podiums as she is entered in both categories – and she won’t be the only one!

In the girls’ longboard event, Julieta will face France’s Margaux Vieuge; like the Spaniard, she is a regular on the European Longboard Tour (ETL), so it’s a safe bet that their opening clash on Thursday’s swelling swell will be spectacular!

Daisy Heddercott - Channel Islands

In the U18 boys’ event, as with the girls’, the repechages offer a second chance for competitors who missed out in the previous rounds.

Nevertheless, some teams are taking a big risk tomorrow, with two of their riders in the same heat. Spain, Switzerland and Italy are among them, not to mention France, which has just one surfer in this category: Aaron Bacon.

Lara Pop - Germany

In the U16s, there are still six riders in contention for a place in the main draw final, including the two Frenchmen, Husson and Pommier. Sweden, Portugal, Italy and Belgium can also hope for a direct place in the final.

In the Longboard category, Martin Gracia (SPN), a regular in the ETL circuit’s final stages, will have to contend with competition whose potential is as yet unknown…

Daniela Alonzo - Spain

You’ll need to head further north to watch the longboarders tomorrow, as they’ll be at ROSSNOWLAGH BEACH from 9.15 am; the same time slot applies to Podium 1, which will be reserved for the longboarders.
